Best roads into centre, avoiding Hoole Bridge diversions

Hello all, I'm due to spend a couple of nights from Thursday 14th in the Grosvenor and was wondering if anyone with some 'local knowledge' of the roads could suggest the best way into the city avoiding the diversions that are in place for the Hoole bridge closure? (I assume these will be pretty bad) I'll be coming in from the 56 Manchester direction.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Traffic won't be too bad unless you are arriving before 9 am. Best route if coming into chester from M53 take first exit for Chester and take a right at roundabout under the mway. go straight on at next roundabout on to Hoole road past signs that tell you bridge is closed. the bridge is about 2 miles from this sign. follow road around bend and go past hoole playing fields on the left (speed camera here 30 m/hr zone) take next left on to canadian avenue and follow to mini roundabout. go right and over small one way railway bridge. At next junction go left (by lock vaults pub) over canal to traffic lights. Go right at the lights and you will reach city road roundabout. If you know the city centre you will recognise this. If not just ask for directions at this point to the grosvenor. It is not far away. This is probably the quickest route and misses out the main diversion routes. The centre can be generally congested everywhere between 5 and 6pm but any other time will be o.k.
