Luggage storage in London

Hi! We are considering booking a flight with a long layover (10 hours) in London. We also change airports from Heathrow to Gatwick during our layover. What is the best/most affordable option to get from Heathrow into central London and then from central London to Gatwick. Also, what would be our best option for storing our luggage in London while we explore for a few hours? Thanks!

If you have any option not requiring a change from Heathrow to Gatwick, take it!

The cost and time to travel between the two isn't really worth the very short time you'll have in London and, without protected connections the added stress won't make for a great visit.

But that's just me......

I too would avoid having to schlep from one airport to the other unless there were no other options available.

If you book separate tickets you will also be at the mercy of the fates if your flight arriving to Heathrow is late or has a subtantial schedule change as that could have an impact on the departure from Gatwick. This is an article worth reading: https:/…Connecting.On.Separate.Tickets.html

As well, you will have very little time to sightsee in London if you will have 10 hours between scheduled arrival and departure. The arrivals process at Heathrow takes about an hour, then 45 to 60 minutes on the Underground to the city centre. You will need to be at Gatwick two to three hours before flight departure, with the train taking from half an hour to an hour from the city centre to the airport.

Please let us know the date you plan to travel and flight arrival and departure times. If you're considering booking a low cost carrier from Gatwick, you may find that a flight from Heathrow may be cheaper in the long run after removing the cost of travel from one airport to the other along with the cost of luggage storage.
