first time in cape cod - where to stay?

hello, similar to a recent post.

We are travelling from New York to Cape Cod in August (we will hire a car) - plan is to stay 6 nights. Have not got a clue where to stay (area). Having had a look at some older posts too, it seems every place is pretty nice. After our six nights, we plan to drive and finish in Boston. Would prefer to take day trip to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket (is this feasible?).

Reading other websites, it looks like Chatham and Brewster would be good places?

Any reccommended places to stay - budget is between $$ and $$$

Sorry if this is a daft question, but i am unsure, of the distance also between the places in Cape Cod. Like to see things, as well as beaches and since we will have transport am happy to travel

This will be the relaxing part of the vacation!

Thanks

There's Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham and Ocean Edge in Brewster. Both are beautiful properties, and also quite expensive. Check them out and see if this is too much.

Chatham Bars is $$$$$++ You can stay at the Hawthorne Inn in Chatham near the Chatham Bars Inn for less money and have the same views. Check on the rates for The Wayside Inn and The Bradford Inn in Chatham. There are other inns and hotels in Chatham that are nice.

The Cape is a little over 60 miles from the Sagamore Bridge to Provincetown on the very end. Brewster is a lovely town, with beaches on the bayside which tend to be quieter and less dramatic than the big ocean beaches of the National Seashore. In Brewster, the Old Sea Pines Inn is well-located, has a lot of different options in terms of rooms, good prices and great breakfast.

The National Seashore beaches are found in the towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Each of these is a nice pace to stay, with Provincetown having the most activity. Even if you don't stay in one of these towns plan on visiting at least one of the beaches during your visit. They are spectacular.

You will really enjoy Ocean Edge! They have a terrace bar & restaurant which is a great place to have a drink & watch the sunset. Also, dinner at Chillingsworth is a treat, there is a fun bistro & a formal dining room - food is fabulous, it is right near OE on Rt.6A in Brewster.

Thank you! We can't wait and I will keep you posted. I do have another question please. We would like to spend the last three days of our holiday in Boston.on the first day, plan to go near the waterfront and freedom trail if we can. On day two, would like to go to SAlem and day three, outlet village in Wrentham, because we just love the shopping in the outlets in the USA.

So here is my question. Do we keep our hire car and travel, or find other means, for example, it looks like there is a ferry from Boston to Salem, and our hotel runs like a bus to the outlet villages.

The reason for asking is I have read a few posts on TA and elsewhere and everyone seems to say its a nightmare driving in Boston? Really that bad?

Sorry typed all this and realised maybe I should ave started a fresh question....

You don't need or want a car in the city. Driving is not for the fainthearted & parking difficult & expensive. Use the ferry to Salem & the coach to wrentham & leave the hassle to someone else. Rent a car as you leave the city & head to the Cape
