A weekend in Cape Cod?

We are two 30-something girls looking to go to Cape Cod for a weekend. We are traveling from Washington DC, and this will be our first trip to CC. Any advice regarding which airport to fly to, where to stay, what to do, etc would be greatly appreciated. We are looking to have some good meals, hit the beach, hang out in bars, and spend as little as we can.

Thanks!

Hyannis Airport.

Hyannis-Yarmouth-Dennis area has more beaches, accomodations, restaurants, bars. and things to do than any other area of the Cape.

Go to CapeCodtimes.com to find all of the above.

Hot Tip: You are always on Cape Cod, never in it!

I would fly to Logan airport and take the Plymouth and Brockton bus to Hyannis if you want to save money, a flight to Hyannis airport will be costly. Once there the mid-cape is probably the liveliest thought Provincetown is fun if you want to take the trip all the way down there.

We will have a rental car. How far of a drive is Hyannis from Logan airport?

Well it depends when you arrive. Its about 70 miles but if you arrive Friday night you will be looking at a backup to get over the Sagamore bridge, I take the bus from Boston every day you're looking at 2 hours + if you stay mid-cape, if you go all the way to provincetown add another hour or so.

Hey DCGal, We fly in also. Long ago we learned that we are better off flying into Providence, RI. The airport is really in Warwick. Because SW Airlines does the route the airfares are really competitive. They may fly there from Balto. too. Whenever I used to check the rental cars (Budget which is right outside baggage claim and Alamo) were always less than with these same companies but renting in Boston. The mileage onto the Cape is exactly the same from the two airports but getting out of Providence is a snap and getting out of Boston is a nightmare. If you do decide to fly to Hyannis you can still get a well-priced rental from Budget. At least we did that one year when we flew into Boston and took the Brockton bus to Hyannis then a cab to the airport to get the rental car. On the way back to the airport several of us on the bus had to jump off and get cabs to the airport because the traffic was so bad that it became apparant that the bus was not going to be able to keep on schedule and we would miss our flights. We would never have the patience to use any Boston scenerio again now that we are spoiled with going into Providence.

Just chiming in to say that I have friends who have also discovered that about Providence/Warwick airport. They visit the cape each year and will ONLY come through RI now. :-)
