mont tremblant family holiday queries- your help please!

Hello, was wondering if members could help with some advice.

We are a family of 4 and are planning a trip to MT in Dec 2012.

Our kids are 11 and 14 so we are hoping for a 2 bedroom suite/condo or a 1 B/R suite or condo with 2 kinds.

Was hoping you might recommend the best hotel or condo for a ski in/ski out. We have a budget of around $300 per night but could go higher if we have to. We are looking for clean and comfortable, simple luxury( if we can get it at this price ) but our main priority is location and family friendly.

Also could you please advice the best way to get to MT from NY City? Train, air? I believe Continental fly to MT but cannot find prices/ schedules. Many thanks

THere is lots of great family accomodation at all price levels.

My favourite is Les Sommets, right next to the gondola, so easy ski in and out. They are at the higher end.

More budget options, still on the rsort and therefore a short walk to the lifts are.

Tremblant owns a whole whack of condos on the hill, access pricing through their website www.tremblant.ca.

Other than that there are a few sute hotels that should fit the bill. The Homewood suites and the Residence Inn are nice hotels, included breakfast and even quality.

As to getting here. The most cost effective is usually driving from Montreal, you can fly from Toronto or NYC on Porter air or Continenetal, but in Decemeber schedules will be spotty at best. The drive is about 90 minutes from MOntreal and is quite beautiful, avoiding rush hour is a good idea as getting out of the city can be challenging due to road works etc.

Having a car will also enable you to pick up groceries on your way up to stock the condo with.Look at a map of the area, you will see the resorts is about 15 minutes off the highway, and that before you get there you will hit the town of ST Jovite. THere you will find all the shopping, for food, that you will need.

Tremblant is very family friendly, kids love it here. All the suite/condo accomodation will have studio, one and two bedroom options.

Yes it is now Porter Airlines that do NYC/MT and there is only two flights per week if I remember well. Well actually you could do it by Porter every day by the end of December but that would mean a transfer in Toronto. The above 2 being direct flights.

You are from Australia so driving in winter conditions around here is probably not your forte and we really recommend (well most of the local contrubutors) that you don't try it unless you have significant winter driving experience.

So flying would be a better solution. But I must also tell you that calling it the Tremblant Aisport is a bit of a misnomer as it is located in the village of La Macaza, a good 30 + minutes drive away. There is cab service on request and, with enough passengers mini vans or mini buses are available.

If you fly to Montréal instead there are some buses that do shuttle duity from Mtl International Airport to Tremblant and and you can also take the airport bus in Mtl to the intercity bus terminal where the regular bus for the whole Laurentian area departs many times per day.

RIck for a budget holiday flying for a family is crazy expensive. WInter driving is a challenge, but considering how much snow we get in Decemeber I cannot imagine it will be a big issue. Rentlas now all have winter tires, and driving carefully is key. In this case, flying would take almost three times as long as driving.

If there is a fear of driving the airport bus, or the Galland bus is a good choice/
