Toronto to Mont Tremblant

For our summer holiday this year, we are looking at flying into Toronto ( we live in the U.K.) , a few days around the area , then onto Mont Tremblant for 5 or 6 days before flying back from Montreal.

Can anyone tell me roughly how long the journey from Toronto to Tremblant should take? Is there a longer route, but nicer scenery?

And what weather can we expect in July/August?

Any help will be gratefully received!

Thanks.

You will need to hire a car for this.

The drive from Toronto to Mont Tremblant will be about 8-9 hours.

I am sure you will want to stop along the way. So allow more time for your journey. You may want to consider one night either near the 1000 Island, Ottawa, Montebello or Montreal. Mont Tremblant is located north of Montreal.

On your way there, you will pass 1000 islands area, then you will have the choice to continue on the major HWY 401 to Montreal or take the HWY 416 to Ottawa.

If you choose to go the Ottawa way you can either choose to continue by HWY 417 to Montreal or via HWY 50 into Quebec. HWY 50 then Hwy 148 through Montebello then north into cottage country ie: The laurentians area of Mont Tremblant.

Another option is to take a flight into Montreal from Toronto. Flights are relatively cheap. Train is another option.

Thanks, Canuckgirl, for your reply. We will look into both flying and the train, but we like to be able to stop when we want and have a look if we see something interesting.

Would you know what temperatures to expect end July/ start of Aug?

Thanks.

The weather in July and August can be hot at times.

It is typically between 22C-31C and sometimes a humidex factor may make it feel more like 28C-42C (42C being an extreme heat wave).

The 2 main airlines servicing Toronto to Ottawa or Toronto to Montreal are Air Canada and Westjet.

The train, Via Rail, may allow you to see a little more of the country and won't make any stops per say. You could however take the train from Toronto to Ottawa. then another train from Ottawa to Toronto. If you take an early enough train from Toronto you may have 1/2 day in Ottawa or stay a night there.

Take note that a drive from Montreal to Mt Tremblant is about 2 hours. If you still not hiring a car at that point you will need to seek a shuttle service of some kind.
