please advise if there any farm to visit with my 2 year old granddaughter on the way from Calgary to see/pet pigs, hens, etc.?
I think your best bet for that is actually to visit Butterfield Acres in NW Calgary:
I believe that most commercial farms have pigs and chickens in large barns, rather than roaming the farmyard where you can see them. However, your chances of seeing cows and horses along the route is excellent. And if your granddaughter is with you during Stampede Week, don't mess the agricultural displays, especially "Agtivity in the City", which give lots of opportunites to pet and learn.
Wherever you go, it is very important for both of you to wash your hands after petting the animals and before eating or leaving the farm. At the Stampede and at Butterfield Acres, you will see handwashing stations set up for that purpose.Edited: 3:06 pm, July 13, 2010
