Okotoks hotel

For a competition on Okotoks should I stay in Okotoks or Calgary? I am looking for a hotel within about 20 minutes of the competition...will Calgary be too far?

I was looking at Delta Calgary South.

You could definitely stay in the south end of Calgary. I don't know about any hotels in Okotoks, so hopefully someone else can help you there.

I think the Delta Calgary South would be a fine choice location wise. Other hotels you could check out that are even further south in Calgary (so closer to Okotoks) are:

Wingate Inn

Super 8

Deerfoot Inn & Casino

I haven't stayed at any of the above hotels so I am only recommending them based on location. Make sure to check the reviews to find out more information about each one.

The Delta Calgary South and the Carriage House Inn are both a little bit beyond 20 minutes; Mapquest (which is usually reliable) says about 27 minutes driving time for each. However, if you're going to be travelling during rush hour, I would scratch them off the list as that could increase your travel time, even when going south (the "wrong" direction for rush hour).

The other three places on Dar's list are closer, though, and probably okay.

Or, if you don't mind paying less--and getting fewer amenities than at the Delta South or Carriage House--you can stay at the Lakeside Inn and Suites in Okotoks, which has garnered a recent positive review with nice details:

In nearby High River (about 5 minutes drive from Okotoks, max), you can stay at the Super 8, Ramada, or Heritage Inn (a small-town chain I patronized many years ago):

While in Okotoks, take the opportunity to check out the Big Rock if you can; it's the world's largest glacial erratic:

Since your competition is in Okotoks, why not stay right in Okotoks? There is a nice new Best Western (The Okotoks Lodge) which would give you easy access to wherever you need to go in town.
