<<I've read (probably in some sort of tourism materials) that in Port Alberni you can walk along Victoria Quay and see black bears across the river. If this is a high-percentage viewpoint it could add a good photography opportunity for Robert H (and myself, about a month earlier) that doesn't require an expensive tour. But how reliable is it, are we talking routine sightings or occasional sightings? Is it hugely dependent on time of day?>>
