looking for a cottage to stay in for quick weekend in the next couple of weeks. Dont have a lot of money to spend but would like the beauty of the north, preferrably on a lake. Also cleanliness is a big thing. Anywhere in the Muskokas would be fine. Any ideas?

Check out north-muskoka.com for a list of properties aroundLake of Bays. After labour day weekend you'll find many of the small cottage resorts have openings for weekends. Prices will range from 300-600 for the weekend. Look for Canada Select approved properties.

I'm probably too late, but next time check out www.tallyhoinn.com. In Huntsville, this series of cottages are right on Peninsula lake. It offers a european package (includes breakfast and/or lunch) and it's cute, inexpensive, clean and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommend it.

Does it have to be the Muskokas? If you want to get a bit further afield you might have more luck on Manitoulin Island.

Manitoulin Island is most definitely where you want to be but...may i suggest......... www.manitoulintourism.com as a much more up to date and user friendly website packed full of information and links for booking accommodations!
