beaches?

We will be staying at a family cottage on Sand Lake (30 minutes north of Huntsville?) in August. The cottage is on rock, so there is no "beach area". I'd like to take my kids to the beach one day just for a change of pace. Any suggestions of where we should go?

Thanks,

Tara

Haven't been for some years, but there is a public beach on Mary Lake in Port Sydney near Huntsville.

There is a public beach on Dinsmore's Rd off Hwy 518. Not sure where you're staying, but if you take the 518 just past West Bay Rd, the next road on your left is Dinsmore's Rd. There is a public beach at the end of it.

Or, there is also a smaller spot on Cashman's Creek Rd. a bit further on down the 518. You'll see a little sign on Cashman's Creek Rd that says "unsupervised swimming". That's where you go.

Just came back from a week in Algonquin....There was a public swimming beach within Arrowhead Provincial Park just north of Huntsville...You could get a park day pass and do some hikes as well...Stub's falls is a short hike...Also, we saw 3 deer by the side of the road in the park. Have fun!!
