railway traffic in canmore

Hallo,

we are travelling to Canmore in February, 27. to 7.of March. Who knows more about the railway traffic in Canmore. How many trains passing canmore in the night?

We would stay in Falcon Crest. Is that a quite place?

Thank you.

The Canadian Pacific Railway's main line passes through Canmore and Banff. The same rail line also goes past my family's cabin in British Columbia (within 100m), so I have some knowledge about rail traffic in general.

Rail traffic is highly variable; you can get quiet nights, with only one or two trains, or busy nights with as many as six or eight. From an outsider's point of view, it's fairly random. The only real rule is that traffic is usually lighter on weekends than on weekdays.

Sorry, can't answer your question about Falcon Crest specifically.

Hi Wolfgang,

I stayed at the Falcon Crest Lodge last year for 2 nights and didn't notice any noise at all from trains in the area. It is a quiet building even though it is situated in a big complex of condominiums. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Hi, we stayed at the "lodges at canmore". We were never disturbed and the line was quite close. I think I noticed a couple of daytime trains in 11 days!

falcon crest is far enough away from the tracks and the road crossing, so you wont get the full blown train noise/horns. also depends on the orientation of your unit...if you face south then youll hear it with a patio door open.

trains run 24 per day on average.
