South Lake Tahoe Casinos

We will be in Tahoe in May for 2 days. My husband would like to visit a casino. He enjoys the slots and wants to know which casino is the best. I want to know if any of them are non smoking. Thanks for the help.

Sorry - all are smoking...

The non smoking casinos are so nice (we went to a couple in Canada and they were so nice to be totally non smoking - the SLT casinos are smoking).

I would probably check out Harrah's... (we were there in October again...and the place had an ok vibe..

of ir 20/30 set Montbleu is also nice.

Its easy to enjoy a few hours and just go from one casino to the next until you find one you like.

The week-ends are usually busy - there are some good concerts.

Mid week it can at times be super quiet at the casinos...

so if you want more of a party scene go Friday - Sunday if you can arrange that in your itinerary.

Thanks for your help. Our Casinos have been non smoking for quite awhile, it makes sense now that smokers are in the minority. It must be awful for the people who have to work with second hand smoke. It will certainly shorten the time we will spend there., which is fine. I want to be outdoors.

Bills's was a non smoking casino, but they closed a few years ago. Actually, my expierence has been that the patrons at the South Lake Tahoe casinos seem to be a healthier group over casinos in other cities and locations. I am not a smoker and have had very little problems with smokers at Lake Tahoe.

CaSwede - its a smokiers casino; yes, some days it might be lighter than others

but its not like some of the amazing canadian casinos that actually are......

I wanted to pack one of them up and move it out to Nevada or California....

I agree with CaSwede, we can find areas of the SLT casinos that seem to be smoke free, otherwise I could not stand to be in them for long.

We think the small casino at the Hyatt hotel in Incline Village has the cleanest air. I don't think many guests smoke.

Hi sorry I am tagging on to this thread as we are also looking to spend a short time in one casino just for fun, it will this Christmas new year period. We have been to Las Vegas before and though not at all into gambling had enjoyed the experience of Vegas casino especially the show, the grand buffet dinner. Anything similar in North or South Tahoe ( prefer north though since we stay at Carnelian Bay) with shows etc rather than just gambling. Again non smoking if possible.

Tahoe does not have the big production shows of Vegas, nor grand buffets either. One hotel in SLT, Harraha's, has the Forest Buffet on the top floor. It's pretty good and has nice views of the lake across the street.

There are a few casinos on the north shore, but not much action anymore in terms of entertainment.

Thanks. Noted. So maybe Harrah's for a couple of hours after dropping the kids to heavenly? We have a big group and three cars but only three can drive. In case some decide to leave earlier, are there any public transport back to carnelian bay.?

There are about 12 good ski areas on the north shore. Why drive all the way to Heavenly to ski when NorthStar or Diamond Peak for example, are much closer to Carnelian Bay?

Oh because a big group and thereon skiers among us what wanted to spend sometimes in a casino so we thought we will visit south Tahoe for one day out of a week and to kill two birds with one stone those non skiers can visit the casino and skiers can head to the slope. Is it not a good plan? Will the journey or traffic be awful? We also want to go to emerald bay.
