SLT trip next weekend - need help

We've not been here with the kids. Need some advices on snowboard rental, lessons lifts etc. We are looking at Heavenly. Is there another resort close by that is better for family with young children? We are also interested in sledding. Is this somethng we need to buy and bring a long or can rent for a reasonable price.

Sierra at Tahoe might be another resort you can visit. It's located about 20 minutes from town on highway 50 towards Sacramento. It's a really friendly family resort and has a tubing/sledding hill on the mountain.

Both Heavenly and Sierra have rentals on the mountain, but they're usually pretty busy. There are a number of rental places in town (Shoreline, The Village, Sports LTD) which are all pretty reasonable.

As far as sledding goes, that's a little hard this year. We don't have a lot of snow so finding a place might be a little more difficult. We're supposed to get a lot of snow this week so things might change. Normally tourists buy sleds at Rite Aid or Safeway and end up just sledding off the side of the road. Just be SUPER careful about cars!

Our family enjoys Diamond Peak, in Incline Village. It's about a 25 min. drive from SLT on the north shore. Great for kids, snowboarders. Views of the lake are beautiful from the mountain.
