travelling from lucerne to jungfrau and back in a day.

We are a family of 4 travelling planning to visit jungfrau on 5th or 6th june 2013. Teens aged 17 and 13. We are staying at lucerne and have already booked a Swiss pass. We plan to take the first train early morning to grindelwald and proceed to jungfrau. Is this a good idea? Can anyone please suggest ?

Hi Mugdha2603

We get this questions different times per week. The answer is DO NOT DO THAT as it takes too much time. As you are based at Lucerne I would recommend to visit Mt. Titlis which is also a glacier experience.

Lucern to Interlaken is a 2 hour trip. Interlaken to Jungfrau is 2h20m. You do the math. It's just not worth it unless you are staying in one of the nearby mountain villages. And if the weather isn't good? You've spent an entire day to see cloud up close.
