6-10 guys, late 20s-30 looking to travel to the Poconos for a 3-day weekend in late August. We've never been up there and are looking for some jumping-off points for our search of where to stay.
Here's the kind of stuff we are looking for:
- A house In an off-the-beaten-path setting (or at least feels like it)
- However not more than ~10 miles (preferably 5 or less) away from a downtown area with at least 1 fun/laidback bar we can go to at night. Dives are fine, just any place we can go and at least feel somewhat welcome.
- If the house was on a lake/river that would be great.
- golf <45 min away
That's pretty much it. We're not an especially rowdy group, but we're looking for a place where we can sit out on the porch at night, drink a few beers, and probably get into spirited debates about pointless topics late into the night without having to worry about upsetting a family with children next door.
I looked at places near Stroudsburg, as that area seemed populated enough to have some restaurant/bar options. Didn't seem to have a lot of housing options though.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks
