day trip from Vienna to Oberwart

We are trying to leave Vienna at 10 am to drive to Oberwart and return to Vienna by 4 pm. Will that be possible? Will we have enough time to stop somewhere along the trip for an important touristic sight?

Thank you.

we simply wish to visit the town and surrounding area since my mother was born and brought up there to get a feeling for it. we would like to stop by Esterhaza in Fertoed or Forchtenstein on the way...whatever is easiest.

I am not familiar with the roads and we must be back in Vienna by 4:30 pm at the lastes. We will have a fast, private driver:).

thank you for all your attention.

Depending where you depart from in Vienna, your trip will probably take 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours .

So a quick answer , you can make the trip and be bayk in Vienna by 4.30.

A good portion of the trip is on an autobahn( mainly A-2 ) But you never know about traffic , possible stalls etc. The A-2 a very busy roadway and lately some construction

Your time for the trip depends probaly more on the traffic than the speed of your driver.

Oberwart is in the State Burgenland as you already know and just over the border from Niederosterreich.

Perhaps you may have some hungarian blood as this area has had a long hidtory of hungaarian minority population.

Assume you visit a Church, grave etc. and impossible to say how much time you need . Perhaps even looking for a family name .

Forchenstein is not too far from the A-2 and most probably the better place to visit as time permits. You can decide this when you visit perhaps.

But check for openings .

It is just open until the end of October.
