Hi

Depends what you're after, but I think V&A would be your better option. Canal Walk is mainly (nice-ish) chain and department stores and is probably more for local shoppers.

V&A Waterfront has some art/craft/souvenir shops. Decent quality generally. If you're after more unique souvenirs, maybe try MonkeyBiz, Streetwire, Africa Novo (all in De Waterkant/Bo Kaap) or African Image (Church/Burg St in town).

If it's department stores and the equivalent of your high street stores that you want - then Canal Walk.

If it's more for souvenirs - then stay in town and V&A Waterfront, I think.

If you are looking for souvenier type stuff then I recommend the Kirstenbosch Botanical gradens shop. I rarely go there without spending a lot of money!

Tourist wise I also recommend going to the firing of the Noon gun. Not many people do it and I think it's an awesome, fun, quick thing to do in CPT.

I would say the best place to shop is Claremont.
