Recommended Tours at Khao Sok

We are staying at Khao Sok in early April and have started to think about potential tours.

We are a family of 4 (kids are 21 and 17) and we are fairly active (although aware of the heat and humidity at this time).

We are staying at Khao Sok Paradise but is it recommended to book tours from here or should we look elsewhere?

What tours (not overnight) can be recommended?

What tours should we avoid?

Are the tours generally very busy with lots and lots of people or fairly small groups?

Many thanks

Book when you get there, it's cheaper. Also better to book from a travel agent, not your hotel, some hotels charge more, especially the upmarket ones.

Tours arranged at accommodation in Khao Sok are arranged through local services and with guides who are in demand in the High Season and Khao Sok being what it is there are not many resorts "especially the upmarket ones." Have a look at Smiley Bungalow Tours at http://khaosok-smiley.com/?page_id=83 and Khao Sok Lake Tours at https://khaosoklake.com/ for typical tours from Khao Sok based operators and here for Paradise's own tours http://www.khaosokparadise.com/

There are some local tour shops down the road leading to the entrance to the National Park in Khao Sok Village where the Paradise Resort is located. See map at walagata.com/w/arandora/Khao_Sok_Map_Decembe…

Hi, just wondering for those tours that are 2-days, 1-night, what time do the tours typically start? If we fly into Surat Thani airport in the morning and take a bus over to the park, is there a time that we have to check in by? Or is there a specific time that the excursions start? We're trying to find the best resorts and tours that will fit into our schedule.

It depends what tours you are considering and that largely will determine where you stay. You could, for instance, stay the first night in one of the resorts near the entrance tonthe National Park and do a trek in the rainforest and canoe ride in the river that afternoon. You could then transfer to Cheow Lan Lake for a full day tour the next morning then stay overnight there in a floating rafthouse leaving the next day for your next destination or go back to your accommodation near Khao Sok Village if you do not want to stay overnight on the lake.

Hope this helps.
