I always enjoy going to the market in Marigot before 1pm on Wednesdays or Saturdays. Lots of local people with tents selling things like t-shirts, souviners, spices, art, etc. If you decide to go, stop and grab a breakfast pastry at Sarafina's bakery across the street! And eat lunch at Enoch's Place. Yum!

The Marigot market is open every day and there is a smaller market in Philipsburg as well.

Your should be able to find market (local people selling) in either Philipsburg or Marigot. I know that in Marigot it used to only be on certain days of the week, but I am not sure how that is now. Also, you might wish to try Tuesday evenings in Grand Case, which is Harmony nights, there you can also see local artists selling their goods too.

The big souvenir shop in phillipsburg had the cheapest stuff and best selection. The big yellow place in the back near the free parking, not the tourist stalls off front street.

Sorry misread, marigot and pburg had the stalls, i thought marigot was better for that because they had a fish market and spices in addition to the usual tourist crap closer to the marina area.

Depending on time of year, look for days were there are a few ships in port. Right now, on days with no ships, not much open in the Marigot Market.

Wed & Sat are the big days for fish @ the Marigot Market is rather mis-leading. The fisherman bring their wares there every day---early in the morning----maybe not on Sunday's. Wed. & Sat. are the MAJOR "MARIGOT MARKET" DAYS----PERIOD..

Yes they do, but unless this has changed Wednesdays and Saturdays are by tradition when they are most active.
