Pelican Key/Coral Shore Villas

My husband and I (mid-50's) will be traveling to St. Maarten in 2013 - probably in May. We would prefer a more private place instead of the bustle of a resort. We would like to be oceanfront - although a sandy beach is not a necessity. A pool is nice but, again, not a necessity. Clean is the main requirement. We'll have a car and won't midn driving a bit to get places.

I've found the Coral Shore Villas in Pelican key. Does this location fit our criteria? Or can someone recommend a place that would be a better fit?

Thanks for your help!

One more question in regard to Pelican Key. In a review, someone mentioned that there were strong currents off the coast there? I only saw one mention and others talked about having access to the water, etc. I am not a strong swimmer so strong currents in that area might be a concern.

thanks again.

Coral Shore is a very nice complex. I've stayed there numerous times now and find the view is gorgeous and the community is well taken care of. There is not a sandy beach there but you can get into the ocean from the pool area, which is right along the water and very nice. As far as the ocean currents, I haven't had much difficulty w/them. I find this location is perfect as during the day I can travel to beaches and explore the island and at night time it's close enough to restaurants & entertainment. For me, you can't beat the location and the complex really is great!
