We are staying in Oyster Bay next week. What is the best priced place to buy groceries without having to drive too far?

There is a grocer on Oyster Pond just before the entrance to OBBR. Prices are higher than at the large supermarkets but they are well stocked.

Thank you for the information. Is there a Costco type place that would be convenient to stop at on the way from the airport?

We prefer this supermarket - locations no matter the direction you take from the airport.

You will find groceries and most booze to be relatively cheap on the Dutch side:) Far cheaper than most islands for some reason. My theory, for those that want to read it, is that they have a much lower tax therefore they also have a poor infastructure. That is the trade off. If the taxes on imports goes up, they would have some $$ to invest in roads and sidewalks.

And then it would not be a duty free port, which is one of the many reason's tourists come here.

We are staying there soon too! Is this grocery store within walking distance? Will we need to plan to always take a taxi everywhere? We don't mind a mile or two walk and it would be great if we could walk to do some shopping.

Just over to the French Side of Oyster Pond (very short drive) is Au Pain D'epices, a small French Market with a very good wine selection, the usual staples, and homemade baguettes and pastries. If you are looking for pastries, best to get there before 9:00 or they are likely to be sold out.

Approximately a 10 minute drive is Fresh Market, the closest larger, conventional supermarket. It tends to have the best produce I have seen on the island.

Hi, there is a large supermarket with very reasonable prices almost comparable to those here in the states,( they are on an island and everything has to be imported by ship) on your way to the hotel from the airport. It is the Grand Marche market. When we go, we do all our big shopping there then just pick up little things like fresh bread ar the smaller markets around the hotel. Sorry but the Grand Marche is not in walking distance. I hope this helps.

Leader Price or Simply Market on the french side or Food Club and Fresh Market on the Dutch Side
