In Grand Case - no - but do you want to limit yourself to this one small fishing village for 9 days ?

You can take buses during the day to other destinations, but you probably will want a rental car. Pick it up at or near the airport or have a rental place deliver to hotel.

Enjoy your stay, but other places should be seen on SXM.

Some can find difficulty in the two capitol cities. Otherwise, not too much of an issue. Vandalism same as any tourist destination. Don't leave anything in your car.

leaning towards doing the driving...seems it would be way more convenient. Common sense is the key, I guess
