How far from the train station to center of town?

I am traveling to Piedimonte Matese for the day in a few days and would like to know how far from the train station to the town.

Using http://www.viamichelin.com/ it looks like 10 to 15 minutes walk into the centre.

Depends perhaps quite where you're heading to, however the station there is a lot nearer to the town centre than most are!

GoogleMaps will find it easily, or else the very useful "Comuni Italiani" site has this - on which it's marked with the blue symbol....

www.comuni-italiani.it/061/057/mappa.html

I had assumed that the MetroCampania NordEst must have upgraded their trains by now but - near to Naples, whilst on a Rome-bound IC - we recently again saw the one on which we'd gone to the Anfiteatro Campano last year...

And if your journey takes you out past Santa Maria Capua Vetere, then do keep an eye out to the right just afterwards - since either at, or soon after, the Anfiteatro halt you should be able to see some of the ruins...

PS: Not sure if it will apply, as we've only used that MCNE line when starting from Naples, but you may well find that from elsewhere in Italy you can only buy tickets as far as Naples - or another of the nearby Trenitalia stations - and will then have to buy a second, for the rest of the journey, locally.

If so, you'll need a "Unico Campania" ticket (sold in booths, and from separate machines and some newstands) rather than at the main Trenitalia ticket office.... as we only learnt AFTER getting to the front of the long queue!

As I say, it may not apply, but details are here:

From Naples for instance, it's a zone U7 ticket - €6.20 for a single trip. Perhaps buy two of those, as the daylong version valid on weekdays costs 3 times as much.... and do remember to stamp the ticket you're using in one of the machines on the platform, to "validate" it!
