Delta Regina or Radisson Saskatchewan?

We're going to Regina for a week in mid-August. Lodging is very limited because of the canada games, though we're going for personal reasons not for the games. I hope it's not congested!

For a similar price, we can stay in a regular 1-Queen room at the Radisson (the 2-queens and king rooms were all gone except for suites), or we can stay in a Premiere King room at the Delta (which is an upgrade from their regular room but below their Signature rooms).

Which is the better room/choice to stay?

I've never stayed at the Delta, but have been to other functions there. It is a nice hotel and is attached to the Casino and the Cornwall Center (shopping). I have stayed at the Radisson -even had my wedding there. It is in a beautiful historic building and is ranked as our top hotel. The rooms may be a bit smaller than the Delta, but are very comfortable and you will have great service. The restaurant in the Radisson is excellent and has a superb Sunday brunch! I find the Radisson a bit more luxurious than the Delta.

Of course, this is all my opinion - but I hope it helps!

Thanks PrairieGal, that must've been one nice wedding for you at the Hotel Sask. As it's an old CP Hotel, and I loved the couple at which I've been lucky enough to stay before. I'm sure I'd be thrilled with either hotel, as they both exceed my standards... but when work pays, I like to get the best I can!

I'm mostly interested in hotel location and room (not hotel restaurants/services).

I'm thinking that an upgraded Premiere King Room at the Delta will be considerably nicer & bigger than a standard single-Queen room at the Hotel Sask? (notwithstanding that the latter is the top hotel). No??

Any idea what the included continental breakfast at the Radisson is like or consists of? (just a coffee-muffin or more

What's surrounding the Delta (one reviewer said "no restaurants there")... Does one hotel have an clear advantage over the other for location?

The Delta's room will definitely be larger in square footage. It is also attached to the Casino Regina and Cornwall Center. There is a restaurant right across the street attached to the casino. The Radisson is closer to many more restaurants. All one or two blocks away.

Hope this helps!

I made reservations at the Radisson, as it actually cost $21/nite less. Well hotel parking might cost more there, but I'd guess there'd be cheaper parking available in a nearby parking lot.

The Hotel Saskatchewan looked closer to Wascana Park and some other things (i couldn't care less about the casino - i seemingly already do enough gambling with my stock picks in my RRSP hahaha)

I live in the apartment building right behind the Hotel Saskatchewan (Radison Plaza) - that's where the Queen stays!!

It's situated right across the street from Victoria Park in one direction and from the Sports Hall of Fame in another direction. If you're here on a Wednesday or Saturday morning, there's a farmer's market on Scarth street just steps from the front door, as mentioned the food in the hotel is wonderful, and there are lots of open air coffee shops in walking distance and the Cornwall Center is two blocks away.

There is a fitness center in the hotel and you are correct that Wascana Centre is about 5 blocks (a nice safe walk) to the south) and with the summer games all the new landscaping will have been done to the park so strolling around there will be a pleasure.

I hope you enjoy your stay, Margaret
