suggestions for a couple of nights outside of Quebec City

Hello!

My husband, 14yr old daughter and I are excited to be visiting Quebec June 22-28th. We are staying in Quebec City for 4 nights and then would like to venture out of the city, maybe to the Charlevoix area for 2 nights. We would love some recommendations on what to do, see and where to stay. Our per night budget is around 150.00-175.00.

Thanks in advance!

Go to Tadoussac or St-Siméon (half way to Tadoussac) for a whale cruise or just a Fjord cruise .... Biking on Isle aux Coudres

Thanks Josee19963 :) How far of a drive is that from Quebec City? Will the whales be active at this time of year? And last question, do you have a suggestion on where to stay?

check Google map for more distances...but Québec-St-Simeon is 175km... 2h30

You could check for a hotel in Baie St-Paul tripadvisor.ca/Hotels-g316031-Baie_St_Paul_Q…

or in La Malbaie: tripadvisor.ca/Hotels-g499346-La_Malbaie_Que…

Whales will be there until October.

If you decide to stay in the quaint town of Baie-St-Paul, besides hotels, there are several inns and B&Bs to choose from as well tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g316031-c2-Baie_St_Pa…

Several art galleries and quirky shops in there. I like the ‘Ol’ General Store’ feeling of Chez Urbain tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/…Chez-Urbain

Papeterie St-Gilles in St-Joseph-de-la-Rive, near the ferry crossing to Isle-aux-Coudres: papeteriesaintgilles.com/papeterie-pages/En/… -- tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/activities-attrac…

Other museums: tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/…museum

---

Isle-aux-Coudres (free ferry crossing): www.tourismeisleauxcoudres.com/home.aspx - you may rent bikes and tandems on the island. There could be a long waiting line of cars in summertime.

Suggestions – where to eat:

o in B.S.P.: Le St-Pub for its local fare and microbrewery beers (Microbrasserie Charlevoix) tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/restaurant/cafe_b… (there is an inn right next to it, Auberge La Muse) ; L’Orange Bistro tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/restaurant/cafe_b… ; Le Mouton Noir, on the way to the little beach; Café des artistes on main street.

o just outside La Malbaie: Café Chez Nous cafecheznous.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/… ; or splurge at Chez Truchon tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/restaurant/cafe_b…

o in St-Irénée, between La Malbaie and Tadoussac (where the scenery starts to become really interesting!) : the restaurant of the Hotel/Motel de la Plage, across the street from the beach; or the restaurant of Hotel Le Rustique tourisme-charlevoix.com/en/restaurant/recher…

o Tadoussac: Café Bohème http://www.lecafeboheme.com/fr/ also tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g155036-d1…

I agree with the previous suggestions. If if may add, that area is also really good for sea kayaking. You can paddle up the fjord and if you're lucky maybe encounter some belugas...

Are you interested in outdoor activities (hiking, via ferrata, canoeing, etc.)? Take a look at the Quebec's National Parks in the vicinity, in particular Parc national des Grands-Jardins www.sepaq.com/pq/grj/index.dot?language_id=1

Charlevoix has incredible cheeses, in particular raw milk
