New Years Eve in Quebec @ Auberge Saint Antoine

Planning our stay from 30th Dec., through 2nd, Jan. They have a New Years Eve pkg that sounds out of this world amazing - fireworks on the rooftop after dinner, a sleigh ride through the city, etc. I imagine we are covered for things to do already such as dining and celebrating, and of course shopping and wandering through the streets filled with twinkly christmas lights. Can anyone suggest any other specifics? Are the shops open on New Years Day? And also offer any info on the themed rooms in the original home that is part of the hotel?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Thank you. As far as crowds and shops being open, would you recommend staying 29th - 1st or 30th - 2nd? Is there enough to see/do this time of year to warrant 4 nights as opposed to 3?

Personally, I think New Year's Day is a very good day to travel. And Christmas Day. Things are closed on both and travel is quiet.
