Need help with making an itinerary

We are flying to Québec City on the 12th of June and returning the 17th.

We're hoping to go to Montreal via train as well.

This is our first time going to Canada so we want to sightsee, eat tasty food, and learn culture/history. I know there's not enough time to do/see everything, but we want to cover the most we can efficiently.

So I need help making an itinerary, how many days per city, what to do on each day, etc.

Thanks!

Budget??? "C'est le nerf de la guerre" as we say in French!

Aslo it could be goot to know where you come from, what are your interests, like and dislikes, etc.

Not counting arrival and departure day it will be difficult to do a lot in 4 full days only. and trains Schedules are not the most friendly. Car rental or bus might be better.

Budget is 4,000 US dollars for 2 people

How is driving between both cities?

How is driving between both cities? If not is 4 full days good for just Québec City?

Will there be any festivals or anything during those dates? We want to sight see a lot of the old architecture, so were less worried about the nature. Maybe a tour or museum would be nice.

If you don't mind, just recommendations that are ideal in the time given would be nice (I don't want to under or over plan). For example, what are must sees/dos
