Canoe Camping Trip

Hi, I am looking for any recommendations on a canoe camping trip in the Montreal/Quebec area. I am looking for a 5 day canoe camping trip. I would be looking for a lake/easy river (no rapids). If you don't have any specific recommendations do you know where I could find some? I know that Algonquin is the best place to do it, but I do not have time to go there so would like something closer to Montreal/Quebec. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I suggest Parc de la Mauricie located between Montreal and Quebec, and on the website you will see different options. I have done the number 3 The Portager; it is very beautiful.

Thank you, that looks like a great trip. Do you know if I can extend the days by going into other parts of the park and making it a 5th day? Do they offer any shuttles between places if we didn't do a loop? Also, is the best place to rent a canoe in the park or are there places outside the park to do it?

Yes you can extend a fifth day by going on other lakes. Look at the map of the park. There is no shuttle in the park. You can rent a canoe in the park at lake wapizagonque or outside the park at the village of st jean des piles. There is also a place where you can rent a canoe or book an excursion in the village of Grandes Piles. http://www.ventetriviere.com/. The website is in french but google translate make a pretty good job!

Hope you have fun, it is such a nice park, you should see mooses in the early morning on the lakes,, lots of ducks and beavers too.
