Night time activies

Hi guys, I will be in Toronto for a conference from March 24 - 28, the sessions are day long so I have the night time free. I'd like to know what do you recommend to fill the empty time. I will be in Holiday Inn Express Downtown.

Hello,

Maybe you could tell us more about you? Your age, your interests? Your music preferences? We need a little more info in order to make recommendations.

Hi Carobs, thanks for replying.

I'm 26 y/old. Not into drinking and museum stuff but really enjoy indie music and theater...

No. The hours are here, http://www.stlawrencemarket.com

And in any case it's somewhere to go for groceries, not entertainment. Unless you were thinking of Kensington Market, which is more of a neighbourhood and includes clubs and restaurants.

There are too many indie music venues in downtown Toronto to really give a list or summary, I suggest you check the music listings in NOW Magazine or something closer to the date if you're interested in a concert. The main small-format theatres in Toronto are the Tarragon, the Factory, Theatre Passe Muraille, and Soulpepper.

You might be interested in El Mocambo Tavern - the legendary music venue that has been home to The Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Little Steven, U2, Elvis and may other music acts. They have many Indie acts.

It is not that far from the downtown, a short taxi ride or 20-30 minute walk.

For theatre I am including links to Mirvish and Soulpepper. Lion King and Chicago will be in town while you are here and a tribute to Beatles with a few other shows. For Soulpepper there is Gigli and it is in The Distillery District which is a very unique area to visit and browse in if you dont want to go to the theatre. They are open in the evenings.
