Toronto based Royal Irish Tours ... anyone??

First off, yes, I have checked the search and really not much there other than a few self drive holidays but really only a few hotel reviews used on their tours and many posts old. One thing I did notice is on a few of them there was a reply which was removed due to it being "inappropriate" .. hum??

Okay so Ireland it was decided and down to either Royal Tours or CIE based in Ireland. Unfortunately for CIE it would not be covered by TICO so we are looking at RIT. We also wanted to include Northern Ireland so that narrowed the tours down significantly.

Is there anyone that has been on one of their escorted tours, how were the guides, the tour in general, any suggestions?? Hotels we can check here .... basically looking for info on the tours themselves.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

MuftiMixandmatch ..... yes I did see all of those posts .... the self drives N/A, hotel reviews are already checked here and on their own websites. There is only one review of an actual RIT tour which was in 2009 but hoping to find something more current 2012 or 2013, I have sent two messages out to fairly recent posters who have been on tours. Unfortunately some people do not realize they have messages on their site.

The cost of some of these tours are not cheap appr $3000 and would like to get a general idea if people like the pace, guides, etc. Always good to hear from others who have done the tours before and for me this is a totally new company as I usually use Globus, Trafalgar or Seniors Tours Canada. None of those had what we were looking for.

I seriously thank you :) for the work you did ... very thorough indeed. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi,

Just wondering whether you were able to get enough info to make a decision yet. Hubby and I are also trying to decide on RIT - Shamrock Tour or Manor Royal, late May. Our TA says her clients are very happy with this company. One reason for our indecision on which tour to take is the drive around the Iveragh Peninsula on the Manor Royal; the drive sounds gorgeous but is, surprisingly, not part of the Shamrock Tour.

Like you, we feel that the tour company being a member of TICO is very important.

Hello Funyet

I talked to two great ladies who have taken the tour and both had a great time and enjoyed it very much. I am booked on Shamrock for late April. Sounds like they take care of you very well so do what you think best. I will post further when we get back.

Used them 2 years ago. Great operation. hotels were excellent - even stayed in a castle that was remodelled into a hotel.

guide was informative , had a great time despite a lot of rain in July.

Beautiful country and worth the visit

I used them 3 years ago for coach tour.

The hotels were great. We even stayed in a castle which is now a hotel.

Had a great time. Tour was very good. Had a lot of rain in July.

I can' remember the name of the tour but we did north, south, east and west of the country. Only disappointment was Dover cliffs is too windy to go see,

I wud recommend them
