Hi All,

I will shortly be visiting toronto with my girlfriend and will be staying at Days Hotel Downtown which is located on 30 Carlton Street, we are arriving at midday at the Coach Terminal, what is the most conveniant way to get to our hotel and is there a subway stop near our hotel? Thanks for the help and advice in advance

Hi David,

The Coach Terminal is located at Edward and Bay St. The nearest subway station to the terminal is Dundas station. Your hotel is located at Yonge and Carlton. The nearest subway station there is College station.

The distance from the terminal to your hotel is quite short, actually. I would recommend taking a cab from the terminal, as getting to Dundas subway station actually involves walking in the opposite direction from your hotel. The cab ride should only cost you about $7 (could be less, it's hard to judge).

If you want to experience the subway upon your arrival, however, then you should walk to Dundas Station and take the Yonge/University line (the yellow one) north to College station. At College, exit to street level and then walk east on Carlton. You should be able to see the Days Inn when you exit the station.

Last option -- if you don't have much luggage (i.e. if you're backpacking), you could walk from the terminal to your hotel. It would be about a 20 minute walk.

Hope that helps!

LY has it exactly correct. Note that the Dundas subway station is just one south of the College station. www.toronto.ca/ttc/pdf/subway_rt.pdf

Fyi, College St becomes Carlton St on the east side of Yonge St. Days Inn is next to the closed Maple Leaf Gardens at Carlton & Church.

Therefore, I would also recommend the same: take a cab, or walk if your luggage is light. The distance from the Coach Terminal is 9/10 of a km. To see it, go to "Directions" on mapquest.ca and enter 610 Bay St, Toronto, ON and 30 Carlton St.

It's definitely under a 20 minute walk. I've done it many times.

Thanks very much for the advice, we will probably take the cab option then use the subway when we have checked our luggage in at the hotel, just one more question, we are flying home from Pearson International Airport and have booked to get to the airport using the Toronto Airport Express, which would be the closest stop for us to get on our coach, is it the bus terminal again? Many Thanks again David

The Bus Terminal is closest, but if you board the Airport Express there you'll spend 45 minutes driving around downtown picking up other passengers.

Best place to grab the Airport Express is at the Royal York Hotel, which is right across the street from Union Station. You can get there by subway or taxi (about $7 plus tip) in under ten minutes. From there, the bus only makes one more stop before the airport.

The closest Airport Express pickup point to the Days Inn Carlton is Delta Chelsea. However, that's also early an early stop on it's way to YYZ. It's another 25 minutes before it departs Royal York Hotel. However, it lets you see more of downtown.

Depending on your time contraints, a cab to Royal York Hotel may make more sense.

Sorry -- ABTraveller is quite right. The Delta Chelsea stop is closer. It's half a kilometre away, so an easy 6-8 minute walk.
