Dress code?

What is the dress code at the clubs and bars in Toronto? Will jeans and a collared shirt be o.k.?

Depending on which clubs you go to, jeans and a shirt are fine. Most of the top clubs have been allowing this for the past year, and you probably be overdressed in other pants. Watch for ripped jeans, hats, or runners though.

Bars are pretty casual, but no one 'dresses down'.

In other words, jeans can be fine but they have to be relatively stylish and decent. No pleats and paint stains (ala current fashion). No t-shirts, unless it's something stylish like a microfiber v-neck. Etc.

There are bars that are 'clubby' and conform to the above trends. Anyone generally fits in.

Actual 'clubs' do have dress-codes of sorts. Some of them definitely cater to the 'club-wear' crowd, though that covers a wide spectrum. Plus you can always pick up a cheap outfit at Le Chateau if you're desperate.

If you're familiar with what they're wearing in New York these days, you should fit in fine. You'll probably even look extra-good, since Toronto fashion trends tend to lag quite a while after NY.

to be safe and not be dissapointed at clubs, no runners, hats or athelitic gear or regular T shirts. also no shorts or ripped jeans. personally to be safe, just wear khaki's or something similar. Bars have no dress codes but clubs do, especially on fri and sat
