Best Wineries

My husband and I 30 somethings are going to Niagara Falls next week for a long week. Wanted any thoughts on must do wineries? Thanks!

After 15+ years of visiting, our #1 choice is Lailey Vineyard http://www.laileyvineyard.com/

Our 2nd recommendation is Southbrook www.southbrook.com

Hi, I do about three trips of the region each season to pick up local wines. If you have access to a car, it is worth a drive out into the region's wineries too.

If this is your first winery tour session the best thing to do is take your time, try lots of variety in each winery, and then buy. I set a budget for my outings (by cash or by case). If you are seasoned pros then just have a blast.

Here are a few of my favourites from Niagara On The Lake

- Peller (bigger winery, excellent restaurant, wide appeal in flavour) http://www.peller.com/

- Coyote's Run (small winery with small batches, full flavour) http://www.coyotesrunwinery.com/

- Konzelman (on the lake, different flavours from others) http://www.konzelmann.ca/

-Inniskillin (fun tour, cosy environment, try their vidal ice wine)

Hillebrand (great food and wine pairings, busy, mainstream taste)

Here are a few of my favourites from the greater region

Tawse (small feel, excellent details by staff for tasting notes) http://www.tawsewinery.ca/

Calamus (small, small batch, right price, personal feeling experience)

Rosewood (they are winning some awards lately) http://www.rosewoodwine.com/

Angel's Gate (fun stop)

Enjoy!

Hi funinthesun

I also recommend Peller and Hillebrand. A couple of my other favourites are Jackson-Triggs and Colaneri. Colaneri is about 18 months old and it's designed like an Italian chateau and they offer premium wines.

http://www.winecountryontario.c is a great website where you can find info and even plan routes.
