Niagra in May with 5 kids- What is a MUST see- Niagra...

We plan to stay at the Comfort Inn Clifton Hill 3 nights, is this good? Kids ages from 1 yr old to 14 yrs. What is a MUST see? And what is maybe a waste of time & money? All advice welcome. WIth this many kids, I would love to find places with Coupons, -any Niagra coupons sites on the net? Eating on a Budget, any reasonable priced Pizza shops in town- to order out at night? Anything a must see a little out of town? Please, details , details, Thanks So much!

CICH is going to be great for you because it's right off Clifton Hill & it's a nice family hotel. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic getaway but it sounds perfect for you :)

You can save a lot of money eating AWAY from the Clifton Hill area. I would suggest making the drive up to Lundy's Lane for food - go to the top of Clifton Hill, turn -LEFT-, drive straight for about ten minutes. That's it! Victoria Ave turns into Ferry St, Ferry St turns into Lundy's Lane. There is a tonne of fast food resturants up that way and normal prices resturants (Including a Mic & Angelos even farther up, once you get to Montrose Rd. stop because past that there isn't much) - Theres a McD, BK, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Pizza Pizza, etc. The Wendy's & BK on Clifton Hill is EXSPENSIVE, try to avoid eating there if you're looking for a budget because they're way over priced.

As for things you must see, I'd definately say let the kids go nuts in the Great Canadian Midway for an hour or so - it's about 2,300 square feet of arcade games. Other then that, I'd definately suggest Maid of the Mist & maybe something that goes up (the Skylon tower perhaps) so you can see the falls from up high. I'd also suggest the Ripleys Believe It or Not museum - it's always been one of my favourites!

Other then that, I'll let people who have visited NF answer about what else you absolutely must do because being a resident it's all the same to me ;)

Oh yeah.. doesn't CICH still offer the two night package with the coupons for the 4dFX ride & such? Ask them what kind of discounts/coupons/deals they offer & take advantage of those :)

PS: This: www.niagaraparks.com/nfgg/discountpass.php might interest you - it seems a lot of money to drop into one person but it will probably end up saving you money in the end if you intend on going to all those attractions (be careful on what dates your coming because I believe Winter Magic is only until April something?)

Also you could try calling InfoNiagara: 1-800-56-FALLS to see if they offer or know of anyone that would offer discount deals to help you out :)

3 nites are perfect, and have plenty of time to explore any places. As usual, I always suggest people to check out Niagara-on-the-lake. It's a beautiful small town. It's about 20 drive from the Fall, and the scenery is beautiful. It's great to spend one afternoon there...

Marineland is good for kids, they can feed the dolphins, so I heard. But I heard it's over-rated. Someone here can tell you more because I have never been to Marineland...

The butterfly conservatory is great fun. All kinds of butterflies from very small to the size of a dinner plate. Wear colourful clothes and they will land on you.

The skylon has some tourist stores and an amusement area downstairs.

There is an aviary you can go to as well, with birds from all over the world. It is a bit expensive though so coupons would be great. There is a restaurant in it but I have never been into it.

Enjoy your stay.

I agree that Niagara-On-The-Lake should be part of the trip. It is so quaint and I love it there. Many famous artists and authors live there.

I don't do Marineland, but there is an amusement park in it which the kiddies would enjoy I am sure. It is very costly so coupons are highly recommended.

Ok, how far is MarineLand from Clifton Hill ? And is this somethng that costs ALOT and would need a whole day? I will be copying these posts for reference for my trip, we are going Mid May, I figure that is a good time -not alot of kids everywhere, most in school, prices a little lower. I already booked the Clifton Hill comfort Inn, so I dont' know if I can get any more deals off them. Thank you so much for the 1st post about where to eat cheaper and details on exactly how to get there, much appreciated. I am off to look up some of this info now. The butterfly place would be wonderful, Niagra on the Lake, both of these I never did the last visit we had. We did do maid of the Midst, I have always wondered IF they EVER had an accident on that boat? Anyone know, it is a little scary-how close they get to the falls ! Last time I missed that simulated Ride of going off the Falls, I really want to catch that this time. We never did the Towers view either, is that Free ?

Marineland is a couple blocks away, it's definately a drive (probably about five minutes). I'm not sure of the rates (my uncle is a head guy there so I get in free), but www.marinelandcanada.com will have prices posted for 2005 soon. I believe it's around $35CDN for an adult, less for kids & 4 and under are free? I'm not sure. It seems like a lot to drop at one time, but you'll probably spend that or more one day on Clifton Hill. I would recommend going to a 7/11 or a groccery store before hand and packing a lunch - the food there is severly overpriced. I'm not sure what days you are going but Marineland usually opens on the 2-4 weekend in Canada (May24) so if you're coming before then it wouldn't be open.

I don't know anything about Niagara on the Lake, lol

In my whole life I have never heard of the Maid of the Mist being in an accident, so you know they at least have a 20+yr clean record ;>

The bottom of the skylon (where the arcarde is) is free admission, but obviously you have to pay to play the games. You also have to pay to go up to the observation deck.

Did you try calling info niagara (the 800# i suggested)? They might have some kind of package plan, if they don't ask for a number for the niagara parks commission (it might be the same thing, I'm not sure) because they own a big chunk of all the cool stuff in the falls.

I just want to warn you though - Niagara Falls isn't cheap. I don't know what your budget is, but just know that most of the stuff is at -least- $10cdn admission for adults. You're going to save a crapload of money eating away from Clifton Hill, & maybe you could try passing off some of your kids as even younger to get better rates because some places have 5 and under or some-odd age & under get in free - maybe try to pass off the 14yr old as 12 or 13 lol

Anyways, I hope this helps :)

I will miss Marine Land, going before they open . How much does it cost to go on the Observation Deck at the Towers? I know it will be expensive to go to all these places with 5 kids. I have a 1 & 3 yr old so they will be free at some places, this will help. We dont' vacation much so spending the $$ won't kill me for 3 days. But when it comes to eating out, I refuse to pay outrageous prices. We will get a free Breakfast at Comfort Inn, and maybe eat a Big meal before 4:00 somewhere away from Clifton Hill. In USA, if you go before 4:00, you usually get "Lunch prices" -cheaper than dinner prices..... is resaraunts in Niagra Falls Like this also?? And maybe order a Pizza somewhere for a night snack back at the hotel. What is the MOST reasonable Pizza place to buy from-cheapest in Niagra? Thanks for ALL your help!

Ok I just phoned the Skylon Tower for you.

Adult $10.50

Child ages 12-4 $6.00

Under 4 Free.

I'd say for a lunch or dinner one day you should try the Flying Saucer. The kids will enjoy sitting in a ufo shaped building and eating burgers, fries, chicken wings or chicken fingers.

Try the Saucer Fries they are great.

Ok just called the Butterfly conservatory for you.

Adult $10.50

Child 6-12 $6.00

Under 5 Free

Yeah those saucer fries are good, think they have a web site and can print off coupons www.fallscasino.com/saucer 10% discount on any meal.. Niagara has 3 a's by the way lol:) now don't correct my spelling!.

Pizza Pizza is my fav pizza, used to order a tray (24 slice) with 3 toppings it is supposed to weigh 10lb! I asked and the guy said it's true!!

Do the skylon and maid of the mist if you can, Marineland epens on 21 st May this year, just had a look for you.

Maid of the mist usualy opens in April depending on how much ice has formed on lake Erie, just checked for you. Their site will let you know when it opens 2-3 weeks before it does.

Your hotel lobby should have lots of leaflets on what to do and prob some coupons in them for restaurants and attractions.
