Business Trip - One Day Niagara Falls

Hi I am visiting Oakville for a business trip 9-13th May, I will have a full day (Saturday 10th) off to do what I like and I would like to visit Niagara Falls. I have looked at trains and it seems I would arrive at 10.15 and leave about 5pm due to train schedule. I would like to go on maid of the mist and up the skylon tower, can anyone suggest what else I could do in that area in that time frame?

Thanks

Better option for transportation would be GoTransit, a combination of train and bus. Much more frequent times than the train.

Maid of the Mist is on the U.S. side only. Hornblower Cruises now operates the similar ride on this side, BUT, neither may be operating by then as there is still ice in the river preventing them from announcing opening dates.

You can still do the Skylon, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk or Whirlpool Aerocar if you like. See the 'Top Questions' section for a list of things to do.

Skywheel and Clifton Hill are other possibilities depending on your interests...

Hi Kate;

Niagara Falls Canada is home to two casinos, if that is of any interest to you.

If Maid of the Mist does happen to be running when I am there, is it possible to go on it even though it is on the US side, sorry if that seems like a daft question but I am unfamiliar with the rules and regulations regarding borders :)

Kate - If the MOTM is running then the Hornblower cruise will also be running ... the problem is ice in the river, not the cruise line.

To cross the border you will require your passport. And as a UK citizen you will need to obtain (at the border) an I-94 waiver. You will be photographed and fingerprinted. Whole process takes about 15 -30 minutes. The fee is (I believe) $10USD.

Check US immigration site for further info.

You can, but when you get to U.S. customs, you will have to obtain an I94W Visa Waiver, which consists of filling in a form, being photographed and fingerprinted, and paying $6. This will take 1/2-1 hour.

If MOTM is operating, Hornblower Cruises will also be running on the Canadian side.

I think you're better off skipping the maid of the mist if you only have a day. You can barely see the darn falls with all the blowing mist! If I were you and had a day, id stay on the Canadian side and go up in the skylon tower, do the sky wheel and some wax museums on Clifton hill, and if time, go to the keg restaurant for lunch in the embassy suites and finally do the cave of the winds.....

jenny8117 - Cave of the Winds is on the American side - not the Canadian side.
