Few questions for an upcoming trip !

Hi all

I scored us a deal at the Embassy off travelzoo, 125 with a fallsview . Have been reading a lot on the reviews and they will offer an upgrade for $25 with the jacuzzi. Any chance that if you just ask for a room higher up or a room with an awesome view they will give you one ( nicer room) for free? I won't mind paying for it, but free is better!

Never been with out the kids before so it will be a different kind of trip!

First not sure which casino to go to. Probably both, check them both out but which one is nicer cleaner, modern? We get a little bit of credit with hotel pkg and it's doesn't specify a specific casino so I doesn't matter which one we go to.

We are driving there and hope to arrive round noonish, hotel check in is not till 4. If we are unable to check in early do you know if they have bag storage at the Embassy. (Didn't see anything on the site)

I ask because we would like to cross the border and do a little shopping at the Fashion outlet.

Just want to make sure it is only like 10 min over the border correct? My gps tells me 55 min and I'm sure that's WRong.

Never been to Niagara NY either so we may get out and check out the falls from that side as well! Will be be hassled for just crossing to do some shopping and returning probably 2-3 hrs later. I will be honest and keep my reciepts. No intention of spending over my /our limit.

Going for a brewery tour at Taps brewery. My hubby is into that! Make reso for a tour at 1pm on a Tuesday. Anyone ever been? Does it last a while? Or just a quick tour? I'm hoping its fun and informative, having lunch Aswell the food sounds great!

Sure ill have more questions as it gets closer 2 weeks to go!

Thx in advance!

Any hotel will have luggage storage as long as you have a reservation.

It's about 20 minutes across to Fashion Outlets - not including the border wait if there is one. No one will hassle you.

as far as casinos there is a huge difference the older is less crowded, not as modern, less stores etc. the one near you is the modern one, it is literally right across the street.

the keg in your hotel has a fantastic view of the falls btw, its worth going for a drink and an appetizer just for the view if you have time.

have fun.

Embassy suites is nice. The free upgrade really depends on what day you are travelling there. Weekends are harder to get an upgrade as it might be sold out. I once got a free upgrade to a California King bed but it was a weekday during the Winter and the hotel was empty.

The border technically is only 10 mins to cross at Rainbow bridge but it depends on the waiting time. You will have no problems going shopping and coming back as many Canadian do this all time. Just keep your receipts and declare everything (don't forgot to fill up on cheaper gas).

Have a great trip!

As has been said the border crossing depends on the time. It seems to be real busy around typical hotel check-out time (11-12 o'clock.) After we checked out we noticed the long line and went to ride the Skywheel instead of going directly home. The line was much shorter after the hour or so we spent at Clifton Hill.

It would have only been 10 minutes for us but we were selected for "random" inspection so that added an extra 15 minutes to our time.

Thx for the responses, we will be crossing. The border on a Monday (5/5) around 1pm ish.

I'm hoping the hotel will not be full on a Monday night but should I call and reserve a upgrade room?

Fill up on has in the states eh? Good to know! It's 135.9 here today.

We have reservations at the keg for dinner and looks like we will be having bfast there aswell, lots of good opportunity for views!

This trip will be a first with not having to visit Clifton hill. And spending a fortune on one street! Lol But We probably will end up walking it just because.... Lol

I think your best best of an upgrade is to ask when you check in, it will depend on how busy it is that day, and I think who checks you in. The best views there are from presidential suites, we got upgraded to this once in winter, but is was still $40 more - I had emailed them before I checked in asking what to expect regarding upgrades and they would not offer anything ahead of time so I don't know if calling will help - please post if you try it! Most recently we upgraded to JR presidential, still has fireplace and Jacuzzi but not the floor to ceiling windows, this was $40 also but it seemed busy that day for some reason. Have Fun!!

Oh - about the Casinos - the Fallsview is way nicer, but we always visit Casino Niagara too - you should check them both out like you said. I would say visit Casino Niagara during the day, they have "stuff" going on there - check the website, then hit Fallsview later. If you want to save the valet fee you can park at the Casino for free if you are going to gamble and you get a players club card - not too far to walk to Embassy.

Thx I was wondering about the parking at the casino for free (or next to) saves $25-35. How does it work exactly. Do we just park there and go in and get a players card? Then gamble right away? When you leave do you have to gamble another specific amount ? I would imagine once we park we will walk everywhere till we leave at lunch the next day anyway .

When you get to the Fallsview Casino you will see the signs to park there and it will give a price - this is per exit at that time and can change. You just pull in and park. You could just walk out then and go to your hotel or anyplace you want. Before you gamble get yourself a card and use it - then when you leave you use the card to get out for free. I don't know how much or when you need to gamble to get out for free but we have left our car there for several days and gambled during that time, but not always on the day we leave and we have never had to pay.

If you are going with kids you HAVE to spend at least 3-4 hours on Clifton Hill. Get a pass that allows you to do five different things (skywheel, arcade, wax muesum, etc) and you wont regret it. It's still my favorite thing to do in Niagara and Im 32. Ive been going since I was 5. Forget the fashion outlet and do Clifton hill :)
