Going To A Concert On US Side--Which Hotel?

Going to see Blondie on Fri Sept 6th over at The Rapids Theater on the US side. Which of these two would you suggest to stay? Not looking to break the bank here for one night.

Best Western Fallsview---great location but a bit of a trek to the Rainbow Bridge to walk over and grab a cab to the venue. Have stayed here before and liked it. Close to Fallsview Casino and The Falls.

Michael's Inn--great location as it is just a short walk to the Rainbow Bridge. Older hotel that I do not think has really been updated. But no terrible reviews. Close to Clifton Hill and Casino Niagara.

Both will be $80 for the night.

Best Western I always like, never stayed at Michael's. Weather might or might not be cooling off by then, if it does, you might want a nice cozy hotel room. I found Best Western beds pretty nice, you know what you are getting if you book over there.

Isn't it great there are so many hotels to pick from in Niagara Falls, I can think quickly of least 10 hotels I stayed at in the Falls. Lately I been going dirt cheap and finding them OK and great for the price.

So far this year I have stayed at Holiday Inn By The Falls in January for a night, Marriott Fallsview from Travelzoo for a 2 night special in April and Best Western Fallsview for a night on the Victoria Day long weekend. If Michael's Inn was a bit cheaper I would maybe book it but being the same rate as BW Fallsview, I think BW will be my pick. I might over the winter stay at some various places for a night or two to see what they are like. Seen as they will be all cheap then.

I have often wondered why Micheal's Inn isn't more popular. It's in the perfect location. About 50 yards from the Rainbow Bridge and the entrance to Queen Victoria Park. It has a WEGO stop in front, is next to the Bird Kingdom and a hop step and a jump from the 'old' casino.

You don't need a car to get to anything and there's lots of parking. Cross the road and look into the gorge and see the American falls.

Of course; I've never stayed there, but I know all the rooms have cool sit-out balconys, even if you do have old fashioned vynll basket chairs. They have a restaurant. They're right in the heart of things; yet nobody seems to know about how close Micheal's Inn is to things.

Granted; it may be dated. My wife worked there in the 70's and 80's and they had 'theme' rooms. eg.- caveman room, Arabian knights room, you get the picture; but the place has changed hands since then.

If I were a traveller and didn't live in my comfortable northend bungalow; I would book Micheals's Inn for anything under a hundred a night. ( as long as it's clean).

Look at the room before you pay. I doubt if they're ever booked solid; so walk ups should be a given.|

That said, I know too that the Best Western Fallsview is also a great place to walk from and they get a lot of bus tours, so it should be fine too. It's a good walk from the Rainbow Bridge though.

Thanks for the info Franklinda. Micheal's Inn sounds worth checking out and yeah, in person to see which room you get and how much. $60 a night sounds more to my liking but given the location might not be possible.

I was still over all pleased with my $40 a night room on L.L past the QEW. $40 flat price each night is very hard to beat and no sightings of ants or bed bugs the 5 nights I was there...didn't leave town till the weekend came and rates went way up.

Problem for me is I do not want to have to cab it or take transit from way up on Lundy's Lane. And if I am out late then I have to cab it back to the hotel. That's why I have never stayed that far from the action.

We stayed at Michael's Inn maybe ten years ago. At that time it was pretty nice. Remember the room to be clean and the pool was really nice. We were tempted to stay there this year but went with the Thriftlodge since we really wanted to be on Clifton Hill.

I don't think you'll regret trying Michaels.
