What is the best time of year to visit?

Three friends and I will all be celebrating our 60th birthdays next year and are planning a trip to the Canadian side of the Falls. We would prefer not to be there in the height of the "tourist season" if there is one. Which would be the best/least expensive season to visit: spring, summer, or fall? Oh, and we are all from Florida and do not like the cold! Thank you.

July and August are the peak, busiest months, so June or September would be a good choice for you: weather is good, all sights and attractions are operating full out, crowds are less and hotel rates are lower than summer. May and October are also good as rates are even lower, but weather can be unpredictable so it could be cooler than you would like.

I say mid June before school is mostly over with and the days are very long and likely it be 80--which may feel cool in the evenings to you.

Sept is great but then the nights are longer and many times 80 degree days are history unless you go right after labor day, by mid Sept its getting chilly many times. Fall comes quick up here

Or just after Labour Day. It's still warm the first week of September. June is nice but it can be chilly at times....other times can be blistering hot. The first week of September is usually always mid 70's in daytime and mid 50's or low 60's at night.

There is good deals to be had right after Labor-Labour Day. Its the same day for both counties.

I recall one year--2007 ?-I went the day after the holiday and got the old Sheraton that is now a Marriott for like $80 a night--total price. Was 90 degrees for one of two days--I went for 3 or 4. Got the 16th floor and had a blast my whole trip. Had to pre pay 2 months in advance, I gamble and won out on the weather.

Yeah June weather can be 50/50, the end of June is always nice but early on you might think summer will never come.

Up to our Thanksgiving would be best in terms of weather and the prices in September would dip from Summer peak slightly.....if you wait until after thanksgiving, prices would drop more significantly but the weather is much more unpredictable...

I agree with other posters that right after Labour Day (first Monday of September) would be a good time. One additional note...the date of Thanksgiving as Tdsuperstar refers to is the Canadian Thanksgiving which is the second Monday of October.

Well, from all the replies, I believe we will aim for September! The hotels we are looking at are: The Tower Hotel, Sheraton at the Falls, Wyndham Garden, Country Inn, Double Tree, Embassy Suites and Hilton. I've read the reviews on all, and they all appear to have the same amount of good/not so good reviews. We have a ways to go, so I will keep my eyes on the reviews for those from here on out. Thanks, everyone!

The Tower, Sheraton, Embassy and Hilton can offer Fallsview rooms, if you're looking for that.

Wyndham Garden is the newest hotel on the list.

Sheraton and Country Inn are in the Clifton Hill area. Tower, Embassy and Hilton are in Fallsview area. Wyndham and Doubletree are in between, but closer to Fallsview.

Country Inn, Wyndham and Doubletree have on-site surface parking.

Sheraton parking is in the Casino Niagara parking garage.

All the others generally have off-site parking (=valet)

Thanks for that information-- that has shortened my list! We definitely want a view of the falls. Parking isn't an issue, we won't have a car to worry about.
