Is the KEG Restuurant at the Embassy Suites child friendly?

Does anyone know if the KEG Restaurant at the Embassy Suites is child friendly.

We have amended our dates to a 2 night package which includes a $45 voucher for KEG restaurant. It does not appear to cost any extra and also includes shuttle passes during our stay.

Hi Disney2007;

They have a kids menu, which you can view here.

www.kegsteakhouse.com/en/menus/kids-menu/

I wouldn't say that it is child un-friendly, but would suggest an earlier dinner time. They do tout themselves as a "Steakhouse & Bar".

Best Regards

Our reservation is at 6pm. I'm hoping that this time is suitable?

Hi Disney2007;

6 pm should be fine...mostly families at that time of the day.

Our family ate there two summers ago , at 6, with 10-year-old twins and a (barely) 7-year-old, and it was really fine--they met another child at the table next to ours, went to the windows without disapproving looks, and were treated attentively and empathetically by the wait staff. They advised us on menu choices and portion size and so on. We did have a bit of a wait to get the entrees, but the server didn't let our kids get too hungry or restless. It was one of our more enjoyable meals on our trip there. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the email. It is good to know that the children are welcome.

Were the meals all reasonably priced. Do you recall the rough cost of the appetizers, entrees & desserts?

We have a $45 credit which I don't think will go far!

Were you able to get a table with those amazing views that I see on their website?

Hi Disney2007,

Welcome to the NIAGARA FALLS TRAVEL FORUM.

It is expensive to eat in Niagara Falls (Tourist Destination & also High Real-Estate for the Restaurants that are in the areas around The Falls... there is only so much land available !!).

The Keg is one of those companies who doesn't put their pricing on their websites because it can fluctuate from location to location... generally speaking though expect to pay $ 6 to $ 12 for Appys, $ 20 to $ 40 for Mains, and $ 6 to $ 10 for Desserts. Booze is expensive in Canada... so $ 6 to $ 8 for a Beer, and $ 30 and up for a bottle of wine (a glass will run around the price of beer). Kids Meals usually in the $ 10 range. Then you have to add on Tax (HST = 13%) and a Tip (15% norm)... and yes eating out in Niagara Falls adds up quickly.

As you say the $ 45 Credit won't go very far... BUT on the otherhand it is FREE... and The Keg does have good eats, and decent service. It is one of the most popular spots in NF due to that and the great location / views (and also as stated, family friendly)

As for seating... it is luck of the draw where you end up in the Restaurant, they don't take reservations for window tables... BUT the Restaurant is designed in such a way that almost everyone can see quite well... seating is tiered.

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!

Wine-4-2,

Great informative post. As with all tourist destinations around the world, restaurants are very expensive. As you correctly mentioned the $45 credit is free so we will be sure to make it a family evening to remember.

We are only at Niagara Falls for 2 nights and it will be our xmas eve outing.

The only thing we can hope for while we are there is snow so that we can have our first ever white xmas. We come from Cairns, Australia (Cairns is home to the Great Barrier Reef) so we are used to the hot tropical weather (similar to Florida I think). It definately does not snow in Far North Queensland. It is currently winter here now and we are having lows of 23C which is approx 73F.

The Keg is a chain restaurant across Canada and lots of families visit it. You will be fine, especially since they have a children's menu for that location. I know the ones in Vancouver vary a bit from location to location, but I would say one in a hotel is good for families.
