Flying into Buffalo, staying in Canada

I have a few questions for a very last minute trip(this Thursday!) due to us having to cancel our trip to New Orleans...Please help?

1) We were able to switch our flight into Buffalo using our NO credits. How much of a pain will this be to get transportation to the Marriott Fallsview at 9pm at night and how $$$?

2) Is it OK that we're not renting a car and how much time should we leave for our return trip to the airport due to crossing the border back into Buffalo late Saturday evening? I understand the trip itself without backups could take 40 mins...worried about delays...

you can easily rent a taxi for a reasonable amount from BUF to niagra but getting over the border will cost u big $. you could also do one of those niagra airbus things, i dont have a clue what it is, never used it obviously, but i guess they do transfers all over the region between buffalo niagara and toronto.

coming back late saturday night you most likely wont have delays, if you do teyll be limited. afterall the unofficial end of the tourist season ends 2 days after you leave on labor day. you can check border crossings online, im sure your hotel concierge or someone at the front desk could check it for u if you dont have a computer in your room.

good luck, enjoy your trip.

One of the replies to this post said that crossing the border

(from Buffalo to Ontario) will cost big bucks. What does

this mean? Is there some fee for crossing the border?

There is a toll to cross the border from the US into Canada, it is 3.50 Canadian or 2.50 US.

I don't really consider that big bucks

Liz is correct. Note that it's a toll to cross the bridge. There's no toll to go Canada to U.S. Here's a website with a further toll breakdown. niagarafallsbridges.com/print-schedules/inde…

The easiest way to get from BUF to Niagara Falls would be to take Niagara Air Bus: http://www.niagaraairbus.com

They will pick you up at the airport & drop you right off at the hotel (and vice versa). I'm not sure about how much money it would cost, but call or book online ahead of time to make sure you get a seat on the shuttle!

You don't really need a car if you're planning on staying in the immediate area (the hotel, casino's, Maid of the Mist, etc) because it's all within a 4-5 block distance from each other.

I would leave A LOT of time to cross the border (an extra half an hour at least). Generally it won't take long at all, but you are looking at labour day weekend (for both countries), so the border traffic will be crazy.

Before you leave, try calling border crossing information; they can tell you if you should expect some delays. I can't remember the toll free line (they should have it at the tour desk in the lobby or @ front desk), but here is the website: www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/general/times/menu-e.html

Enjoy your stay! We're looking at a nice weekend here :)
