Cheap Overnight Parking in Niagara Falls

Is there anywhere in Niagara Falls (near the Sheraton on the Falls hotel) that we could park overnight for cheaper than $29 a night that the Sheraton charges? All the extra "fees" and tax in Niagara Falls are making me want to never come back to the Falls again. This is my third trip, last being in 2004. Sounds to me like the city of Niagara Falls, ON has become very greedy since I was last there. If they rob there tourists like this, don't they know that they will lose a lot of them.

You can find parking info under the Top Questions on the right-hand side of this page.

The taxes are no more than the usual 13% HST that is charged everywhere in the province.

The DMF is new since your visit 13 years ago. Which, btw is a long time ago ... pretty sure most major tourist areas in the US have probably hiked their prices, fees, etc in that same period of time. $29 a night seems high, but is about standard.... perhaps you're unaware of how much hotel parking is in similar type properties in Cincinnati?

The City of Niagara Falls has nothing to do with the 13% federal/provincial tax nor the extra fees that are charged at hotels and restaurants. There are NO city taxes or fees.

Dare I say with the exchange rate being quite advantageous for US visitors, the cost of things anywhere in Canada is pretty good.

Phpr,

There are no hotels in Cincinnati that charge $29 a night for parking. With the exception of maybe the immediate downtown hotels, the hotels in Cincinnati do not charge parking. Our tax is 7%, far from 13%. If you call 13% tax plus $18 a night resort fee plus $29 a night parking (on top of the expensive room rate) fair, then Something is wrong. The hotel has even said they will drop the destination fee if I ask. They know.

Is there anyone out there that can respond to my question about overnight parking Instead of defending the city and their businesses?

A hotel room in downtown would be at least the equivalent of a room in NF.

Check the Westin Cincinnati - $17 - $35 parking, Renaissance - $35, Hilton downtown - $23... and so on.

A hotel room in Cincinnati charges 7% sales tax, plus 4% city tax, plus 6.5% county tax ... close to 18% in taxes on the base rate.

The 13% tax here is a Harmonized provincial & federal sales tax that is applied to most everything consumers purchase.

The point being - don't throw out the word greedy ... without being completely aware of where you are coming from.

As noted in my post above, the Top Questions give you parking options....

There is cheap parking by the Sheraton.

First you gotta go inside the casino and sign up for the Players Reward Card. Then with the card you can eat at the buffed for breakfast, lunch or dinner and parking is FREE for the next 12 hours. The parking garage is the same as the Sheraton. Why they got these large signs saying to tell the hotel you are parking with the hotel, otherwise you are parking to use the casino and the casino offers great buys if you can limit how much you gamble. The casino gets you inside hoping you spend $$$. I gamble $5-$10 on the slots and then eat at the buffet, I figure its better then yeah spending $30 a night for parking. I parked for 3 nights last spring and drove out of the garage for free using my Players Reward Card.

There is two casino garages, one on Fallsview dr, the other one right by the Sheraton hotel. The signs at the Casino Niagara garage are meant to confuses travelers, IMO It took me a bit to catch on to their game

Hi. Just wondering what you did because I will be there later this week at the same hotel. After checking around online, recent posters have said free parking only comes after gambling a lot of money. A guy spent $130 in the casino and still was not eligible. Thanks.

If you eat at the buffet for lunch or dinner or have the market place breakfast, with your Players Advantage Card they will give you free parking, its best to ask for it so you are sure its on there. Once its on the card its good for only 12 hours.

There is NO need to gamble at all to get "free parking". You just have to eat at the buffet inside the casino. You gotta walk past a bunch of slot machines and table games to get to the buffet area. If you gamble good luck. They claim some people really win alot, hasn't happen to me yet, lol

We just ended up paying the hotel's very expensive parking. It couldn't find parking anywhere without a long walk and I was having sciatic/back pain during the trip, so that was out. It is a big racket up there. I'm done with Niagara Falls, ON. I loved the view from the hotel, but the amount of money spent there can only be a once in a lifetime. Maybe you could find a parking lot on the American side that you let you parking overnight and then walk across the bridge if you are staying at the Sheraton on the Falls.
