Dinner on 1000 island cruise

We're planning a special occasion dinner in July and are considering dinner on one of the 1000 island cruises. Wondering anyone's opinion of the food, compared to other upscale restuarants in town ie. Aqua Terra?

None of the cruise lines have boats wih full kitchens on board. This means that anything you eat will have been pre-cooked. Although some of them do a very good job and try very hard, it would be unreasonable to compare them to any of the top restaurants in Kingston. As the boats go, I think the Island Star out of Kingston does one of the best jobs. You have to reserve in advance and pre-order your dinner. However, they do a daily dinner cruise and they are set up for cruising through the islands while you dine. They have entertainment on most cruises and are licensed.

While it has not always been this way, Kingston dining has been changing over the last 10 - 15 years. Could debate the reasons however, today if restaurants aren't very good, they will likely not make it past their first full winter. Once the tourists leave, restaurants have to be good to keep bringing in the locals. Word spreads fast and if you see empty seats there is usually a reason.
