The mall you will want to go to is Limeridge which is off the Expressway (whose name is escaping me right now, can only think of Winsdor's), which is not near Cops.

The best shopping in Hamilton is LimeRidge Mall which is at 999 Upper Wentworth Street between Mohawk Road and the Lincoln Alexander Expressway (The Linc). There is a "mall" right beside Copps Coliseum, but it is pretty much a downtrodden hole. I don't know where you are coming from, but it you are on the 403, it exits at The Linc. If you are coming from Niagara take the QEW, then the new Red Hill Valley Expressway which becomes The Linc on top of the escarpment. Either way, LimeRidge Mall is easy to get to and full of shopping. Copps Coliseum is 15 minutes by car from LimeRidge Mall. As for eating around Copps Coliseum, what are you looking for?

All the best!

So you are coming into Hamilton via either 6 or 8. Either way, you'll end up on or near the 403. If you want to go shopping, take the 403 towards Brantford and exit at The Linc. Take that to the Upper Wentworth exit and go to LimeRidge Mall. It is the biggest and best in Hamilton. If you don't mind about a 7 minute walk, the best Irish pub downtown will be Slainte (http://www.slainteirishpub.ca). They are on Bowen Street, just south of Main Street East. They are in an old Keg Restaurant, so that is the decor. To get there from parking around Copps Coliseum, walk south on Bay Street (where Copps Coliseum is). South is towards the escarpment. When you get to Main Street (2 blocks south), turn left and walk a few blocks (about 5). When you arrive at John Street, walk one more block, that is Bowen. It is a very short block, so don't miss it. It is on the south side of Main Street. Enjoy your night.

All the best!

If you come in on Hwy 6, you will exit onto the 403 West. Follow it up the escarpment, take the Lincoln Alexander Parkway exit and follow it to Upper Wentworth, where you will exit North. Limeridge Mall is on the right hand side.

Jackson Square, which is attached to Copps, is not a downtrodden hole, it just doesn't have all the national chains you'd find elsewhere. It's not bad if you only have an hour or two. There is a farmer's market there. If you have the entire afternoon to kill, go to Limeridge.

Slainte Irish Pub does not have Keg decor although it was previously a Keg restaurant. It was gutted, and the furniture and fixtures were imported from Ireland. Their food is passable. The Ceilidh House is another Irish pub, but is located in Hess Village which is walking distance to Copps. I can't comment on their food as I only ate their once years ago. There are lots of restaurants in Hess Village.
