Day trip to Barrie

Is it possible to do a day trip to Barrie from Vaughan? We have never tried Skiing and were just wanting to experience it and enjoy the snow before we plan on staying for the night. Would mid-Feb be doable?

No problem doing a day trip, maybe an hour and change driving provided that there are no weather related delays...

Barrie is about 70km from Vaughan (maybe less depending on where you reside), so a day trip is easy to do. You may also want to try Blue Mountain in Collingwood, a little further but still a day trip.

If you've never skied before you may also want to try a private lesson your first time.

Hi geetanjalidogra;

Yes, it is possible, if driving on your own. If using public transit, it would make for a very long day.

Best Regards

As others have commented, Vaughan to Barrie is a day trip most certainly...there is a ski resort on the outskirts of Barrie called Snow Valley.....it's closer than Blue Mountain in Collingwood, although not as large.....

Renting a car is the way to go, and mid-February should be fine....all the ski resorts have their own snow-making equipment in case Mother Nature declines to co-operate

We used to go to 25kms north of Barrie for day trips to go skiing all the time and we lived in Etobicoke. Lots of options up that way such as Mt. St. Louis, Moonstoone and Horseshoe Valley. I'll drive that far to go play golf as well....provided the course is nice.

Mid February is mid ski season here. If you have never skied before, I would suggest the more gentler slopes of Snow Valley, just West of Barrie, or Horseshoe Valley or Mt. St. Louis, both about 20 minutes north of Barrie. Google them for info on lessons/rental packages. Have fun.

Thanks .. Would you be able to recommend a private class in Barrie and will certainly keep the blue mountains in mind.
