Folkmusic in Halifax

Coming to Halifax from the UK for a vacation in Sept. (9th visit). Apart from formal gigs are there any 'folk clubs' or singaround sessions? I seem to remember The Henry House had something last year but can't remember what day.

Welcome back to Halifax. I'm glad you enjoy visiting here. I'm afraid I know nothing about the music scene, but I hope one of the other Haligonians can answer your question. Meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes and ears open and see if I can find out anything.

So far all I've been able to find are pubs that have live folk music. I'll keep looking. Here are the pubs:

Downtown Halifax: Old Triangle Pub, 5136 Prince St. Irish music every night. oldtriangle.com

1 block from the Halifax ferry terminus: O'Carroll's, 1860 Upper Water St. Restaurant and pub with Irish music.

Steps from the Halifax ferry terminus: Stayner's, 5075 George St. "Live music featuring jazz, blues and folk artists."

Across the street from the Dartmouth ferry terminus: Celtic Corner Pub, 69 Alderney. Open Celtic session every Mon. night

(The ferry is part of the bus system. So for the price of a bus ticket, you get a 10-minute harbour cruise!)

Thank you Bedlace. I knew about all those but very kind of you to make the effort. Perhaps there are no 'singarounds' in Halifax - I suppose that is possible.
