trip to Nova Scotia and Prince Edwards Island

My husband and I are planning a trip to Eastern canada. We will fly into and out of Halifax. We plan to circle the island of Nova Scotia and also Prince Edwards Island. Other than Cabots Trail what advise do you have for us and what are some places to eat that we shouldn't miss. We leave in 2 days so any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!! Hopefully hurricane Leslie won't be a problem:(

So you will have about nine days.

Here is a map to study. It is just a suggestion.

Heading at way for 8 nights in July. Nova Scotia with Discovery sailing and lessons for five days and four nights. We will need one night in Halifax the day before we start our sailing course ... Two teenagers, my husband, and I. We are traveling from Texas. We can have another three nights somewhere and will depart from Halifax airport. Wondering about going to St. Edward's island or driving Cabot Trail or should we just stay in Halifax? We have travelled internationally to 18 countries and usually end up enjoying naturally beautiful places or unique places with local fare -- places that others think are too much trouble to get to. Not into mobs of tourists. Not much time. Suggestions? Does anyone know if the sailing courses by discoverysailing.com are good? Thanks.

The place that really would fit what you are looking for is the Cape d'Or/Cape Chignecto area - well off main tourist routes and still relatively undiscovered, yet having some of the most spectacular scenery, hiking and other outdoor activities in Canada. The host village is the tiny fishing village of Advocate Harbour. Some links you could check for places to stay are www.capedor.ca www.driftwoodparkretreat.com or a fantastic place to eat or stay is the Wild Caraway www.wildcaraway.com Only 3 hours away from Halifax - but an entirely different world.
