Hi NovaScotiaCapers,

There is no real best time to go. The whales are always there and they have to come to the surface to breath, so it's just the "luck of the draw".

Having just had a week on the south shore where I saw a pair of humpbacks every day, what I now know from the locals is that the best time of day is on a rising tide. The tide brings the bait fish in (Herring and Macarel) and the whales follow the bait fish to feed.
