itinerary suggestions

We will be on Cape Breton island for three days the third week of June. Right now planning one night each in Mabou, Dingwall and Baddeck. Our highlight will be driving Cabot Trail and hopefully doing some hiking (Skyline Trail sounds just our cup of tea.)

Do these three lodging stops make sense?

What are the "must see and do's" in each of these areas (focusing on outdoor activities, scenery and quant shops?) Not-to-miss hikes?

Lodging and dining recommendations in these 3 areas (definitely planning on Red Shoe Pub in Mabou?)

Thanks in advance.

Sounds good .

Check out CB Choices website to find out about Music venues while you are there .

Depending where you are going after Baddeck is the reason to decide on Baddeck really . Yes, it is central and is a touristy town but is a lot like every touristy town, where as Ingonish would still offer you places to roam rather than just stores to shop. Good place in Baddeck is cabin at MacIntyres ,then

Between driving and hiking you won't have much more time with only 3 days. Baddeck do go to Bell Museum excellent and fabulous views. Great spot for interesting shops, Gaelic College is near by in St Ann's

http://www.gaeliccollege.edu/ has a demonstration of Gaelic crafts and gift shop.

Great inn nearby the Chanterelle, fabulous food. Reviews for Baddeck restaurants.

If you need picnic food for hiking the Herring Choker Deli, just outside Baddeck has great sandwiches, baked goods, treats excellent soups- all best ingredients.

Ingonish the Rusty Anchor has great reviews, Markland's Inn in Dingwall is great and when there the food was excellent but not sure same chef?

I like the Normaway inn in Margaree also excellent food and handy to Cheticamp or inverness and Mabou.

Hope that helps a bit

We ate at the Coastal in Ingonish this past summer and loved it. We all enjoyed our meals and service was very good. We also ate at the Main St in Ingonish and we were so disappointed. That place went downhill over the years. There is a another restaurant that we ate at too in Ingonish a little bit down from Coastal that served awesome fish dishes.

The Inn at Glendyer is a very nice place to stay at. We stayed there for 3 nights, our first time going to Caper Breton a few years ago.

I am quick traveler. Going by car ffrom USA to Cape Breton Island. I will have 4 days there and need some ideas on knock-out places to go - villages, seascapes, cultural events, etc. Traveling mid-July. The Cabot Trail seems a no-brainer. Am I correct. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Actually I'm trying to decide between Cape Breton Island or PEI. Any thoughts?
