New Brunswick & Gaspe Penninsula

We are planning a driving trip to coastal Maine, and on to Gaspe, Quebec in early September. We will have approx eight days left in our trip after we leave Maine and head north. Our question: are the southern and eastern coasts of New Brunswick similar to Maine's Coast. We would like to spend two or three days in N.B. and we are looking for some recommendations.

The south coast of NB has quite a bit of variation. There's a transition from the convoluted coastline of Maine and western NB to a very rugged, dramatic coastline near Fundy National Park (cliffs hundreds of feet high, huge long vistas).

The east coast of NB is very different, and is similar to what is found on the east coast of North Carolina (though the climate and human presence is distinct). Small fishing harbours, sandy wetlands, etc.

Recommendations for NB in general:

- St. John River drive, from Saint John up to Fredericton through Gagetown

- Hopewell Rocks, near Moncton

- Fundy Trail, east of St. Martins

- Grand Manan Island

- Saint John City Market

- Fredericton Market (Sat mornings only)

- Irving Nature Park (Saint John)

Also, if you're into country music, there's the Canadian Country Music Week event in Saint John in September. Not sure of the date.

I'm planning a trip in July & all of the things Aktual mentioned sound like a lot of fun. I am looking for horseback riding (preferably along a beach) if you come across anything like that.
